Do you already know what Blue-light glasses are?

From Didinsky, experts in reading glasses, presbyopic glasses and computer glasses, we explain everything to you:

How many hours do you spend each day in front of digital screens?

According to studies by Harvard University, 60% of people spend more than 6 hours a day in front of these types of screens.

What is the Blue Light?

Not all colors of light have the same effect. Blue wavelengths are beneficial during daylight hours because they increase attention.

And the proliferation of display devices, as well as energy-efficient lighting, is increasing our exposure to blue wavelengths, especially after sunset.

Is night exposure to light bad?

Light exposure suppresses melatonin secretion, influencing circadian rhythms, and there is some experimental evidence that lower melatonin levels could explain the association with cancer.

A Harvard study shed some light on the possible connection with diabetes and possibly obesity.

The researchers put 10 people on a schedule that gradually changed the rhythm of their circadian rhythms.

Their blood sugar levels spiked, throwing them into a pre-diabetic state, and levels of leptin, which happens to be a hormone that leaves people feeling full after a meal, dropped.

Effects of blue light and sleep.

While light of any kind can suppress melatonin secretion, blue light at night does it with more power.

The Harvard researchers conducted an experiment that compared the effects of 6.5 hours of exposure to blue light with exposure to green light of comparable brightness.

Blue light suppressed melatonin for twice as long as green light and altered circadian rhythms by twice (3 hours vs. 1.5 hours).

The researchers compared the melatonin levels of people exposed to bright light wearing blue-light protective glasses to people exposed to dim light without wearing glasses.

The fact that the hormone levels were almost equal in the two groups reinforces the hypothesis that blue light is a potent melatonin suppressant.

This study suggests that shift workers and night owls, for example, could protect themselves by wearing blue-blocking glasses.

Glasses, often with orange-tinted lenses, block blue light, as a result, they block other colors as well, so they are not recommended.
